The family of Halley Appleby made the decision Monday to turn off the life support system which was allowing the University of Queensland player to breath.
The cause of Appleby’s death has not been released and will be the subject of a coroner’s inquest.
Witnesses said Appleby lost consciousness after being tackled while playing for his University team against GPS on Saturday.
