Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah recently ordered and increase to the animal-feed subsidy in order to stabilize rising prices. The king's order aims at bringing down prices of dairy products and meat. Authorities have been ordered to monitor agricultural producers to ensure they're passing off the savings from the subsidies to the retailers, who themselves are expected to pass the savings on to the consumers.
"The ministry will deal with an iron hand those who tamper with market prices or resort to fraudulent practices," the minister said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on Friday.
The minister also thanked food industrialists and farmers who showed their willingness to reduce prices of their products.
