He said in the nine months from the beginning of the current Hijrah year until the beginning of Ramadan, more than 1.6 million calls were registered at the police headquarters.
Al-Saadi said when the telephone call first comes in the calls monitor board becomes green.
However, if the police demonstrate any delay or reluctance to take the call, this color changes to yellow.
When the color becomes red, this means that nobody has attended to the call and this will be investigated.
Al-Ghamdi said during the past nine months, the operations room of Jeddah police registered a total of 3,353 calls about car thefts, 438 about drugs, 2,092 about alcohol and 3,115 about forgery.
According to the Jeddah police, more than 8,000 beggars and street peddlers were arrested since the beginning of the current Hijra year
Al-Ghamdi said about 70 percent of cases are resolved on the spot by officers instead of being referred to the courts. “This has reduced the pressure on police stations and saved a lot of time and effort,” he said.
He said security patrols either mediate the case successfully or take it to the police headquarters.
The police said about 40,000 crime cases were solved by the security forces on the spot without being referred to police stations.
