Police sources said the man, identified only as Farhan M., was seen standing on the top of a billboard steel railing by a road near Jazan airport. “Around 11 a.m. Jazan police received a call about a man standing on the railing. The report said the individual appeared to be attempting to jump off the sign,” said Jazan police spokesman Capt. Yahya Al-Qahtani. Civil Defense forces were immediately dispatched to the area, along with several ambulances. The billboard sign was 30-meter-high and Civil Defense forces had to use ladders to reach the man. They escorted him to the ground safely. An inflatable mattress was also ready just in case the man jumped. The man told investigators that he was planning to tie a rope around his neck and hang himself off the sign. He added that he wanted to kill himself because a court action was facing a dead end. Investigators said the man seemed to be suffering from signs of mental illness and will be sent for treatment.
