The drivers threatened not to take the students to their schools on Tuesday, unless they were guaranteed their rights.
One of the drivers, Ali Al-Makki, said that the drivers loaned to the Education Department were hired by the transport company on monthly salaries.
“However, the company stopped paying our salaries without giving a reason even though we have been its regular employees for more than nine years,” Al-Makki added.
One of the drivers said it was extremely hard to negotiate with the company management, as they put impossible demands, such as bringing sponsors to take out bank loans.
Ahmed Balghunaim, the general president of education in Ahsa, held a meeting with the drivers during which he promised that he would forward their request to the Ministry of Education if they returned to work Tuesday.
