In a joint statement, they said it’s unfortunate that despite having complete knowledge of the ground situation, the top US military accused ISI for its secret links with Haqqani network of Afghanistan.
Earlier today Pakistan strongly rejected allegations of its participation in any kind of proxy war inside Afghanistan.
Foreign Office spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua, who will soon be leaving for Rome as Pakistan’s ambassador, told reporters here that “the ISI was not using militants in Afghanistan. It is a baseless allegation.”
Tehmina said, “Pakistan had no cooperation with the Haqqani network and was not fighting any war through Haqqanis in Afghanistan.
The spokesperson also pointed out cross-border attacks from Afghanistan and said that the issue had been raised with the United States.
Janjua said the prime minister  will be visiting Afghanistan and will offer condolences over the death of Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Earlier, US officials had claimed that there was mounting evidence that the ISI had been encouraging the Haqqani network to attack targets in Afghanistan.
