The Afghan Defense Ministry issued a statement Sunday accusing the Pakistani army of firing more than 300 artillery and rockets into Kunar and Nuristan provinces during the past five days.
The ministry says an unknown number of Afghan civilians have been killed and hundreds of people have been displaced from their homes.
If the shelling does not stop, the ministry says Afghanistan is ready to respond to the attacks.
There was no immediate comment from Pakistani officials.
