Abdullah Dahlan, chairman of the board of trustees of the college, said the new institution covers an area of 40,000 square meters and is provided with state-of-the-art academic facilities at a cost of SR90 million.
“It has 35 classrooms and computer, chemistry, physics, electricity, civil engineering and industrial labs and four engineering workshops,” Dahlan said in a statement on the occasion.
He said the new college was established after obtaining a license from the Ministry of Higher Education, adding the Engineering and IT College would contribute to meeting the Saudi labor market’s requirements.
“Saudi Arabia’s rapid economic growth demands the establishment of such colleges to produce qualified Saudi engineers,” Dahlan said.
He said the Engineering and IT College is designed to become a leading educational institution of international standard. It will give courses in electronics and communication, computer engineering and information technology, industrial engineering and civil engineering.
“As many as 418 students have already joined the college,” Dahlan said, adding that the college would bridge the gap between education and job market requirements.
