The committee, headed by Badar Bajaber, includes representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Social Affairs, Labor, Culture and Media as well as the Human Rights Commission.
The committee focuses on human trafficking cases to ensure victims are not abused again and work with concerned authorities to return victims to their home countries or another appropriate location. The committee also works toward providing victims with the opportunity to stay and work in the Kingdom.
According to Bajaber, the committee initiates policies including actively searching for victims and training individuals on how to recognize victims.
It also prepares research, provides a comprehensive database, participates in social and economic initiatives and media campaigns to prevent human trafficking.
The committee coordinates with government departments regarding statistics and information on human trafficking cases and sheds light on the efforts and achievements of such organizations in the field.
Bajaber expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for endorsing the committee's work toward eliminating human trafficking and providing help and protection to victims.
