Petrochemicals giant Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corp. secured the university to provide training for 81 students slated to study next year at American universities. Selected students were enrolled in PMU and recently completed orientation. They are among the seventh group of scholars to take part in the program since 2005.
PMU Rector Issa Al-Ansari and Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, SABIC’s executive vice president for human resources, signed the agreement at the university’s campus.
“The university has designed a unique training program for SABIC students — implemented according to defined needs,” Al-Ansari said. “It ensures that students gain basic skills while developing English language skills and making them feel at home when they pursue further studies in a culture different from their own.”
Al-Benyan said the university program was aligned with SABIC’s strategic goals to nurture future leaders and assure their success overseas. A company panel selected the university after an extensive evaluation process.
The university developed the preparatory program, which focuses on building confidence along with social, language and academic skills required for success in foreign universities.
