The sentence is largely meaningless for Seselj, who has been jailed at the tribunal since 2003 and is standing trial on charges of mobilizing brutal Serb paramilitaries and delivering hate-laced speeches to incite them to commit atrocities against non-Serbs.
Monday’s ruling is the second time the tribunal has convicted Seselj of contempt.
The written judgment said Seselj’s actions could discourage witnesses from testifying by undermining their “confidence in the tribunal’s ability to guarantee the effectiveness of protective measures.”
