The tourists spent over SR5 billion, according to a report released by the Tourism Information and Research Center of the SCTA.
The majority of the attendees were families, the report pointed out.
It also stated that most of the fair visitors had come for touristic reasons to the towns, especially in Abha, Taif, Jeddah, Baha, Jazan, Dammam and Madinah, while visitors in other provinces came specifically for the fairs.
The report indicated that visitors stayed between two and nine nights, with an average of five nights per person. Shopping formed 40 percent of their total budget, while other expenses were on accommodation, transportation, food and entertainment.
The statistics revealed that the majority of visitors stayed in furnished units. According to a survey of visitors, the majority complained of the high prices of the accommodation units.
The report cited a number of suggestions made by visitors to develop each of the events separately. The recommendations and suggestions pointed to the importance of monitoring the services, caring more for hygiene and cleanliness, providing accommodation for singles, reviewing air ticket prices, providing places for women only, and providing parking lots.
