Al-Baydhani killed a member of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) Ali Al-Ahmari and policeman Abdullah Sulaiman Asiri about a month ago.
The court sources added that the 20-year-old Al-Baydhani authenticated his confessions before the court.
According to sources, Al-Baydhani was arrested at a checkpoint when a policeman suspected his identity. Al-Baydhani was trying to escape from Abu Arish to Mahail Asir disguised in a woman’s abaya. He was arrested and handed over to police.
The police investigations revealed that Al-Baydhani, who was living in Khamis Mushayt, had traveled to Jazan where he bought a pistol for SR1,200 before proceeding to Sabya. There, he was arrested for taking qat (a narcotic tobacco) with a friend, a crime for which he was arrested.
The police said while the young man was being transported to Abha in a car in the company of the head of the Haia branch office in Abha and the policeman, he took out his pistol and shot the policeman dead.
The police added that when Al-Ahmari got down to check on the policeman, he too was shot and seriously injured. The murderer let the driver off by ordering him to stay in his place till he disappeared.
Al-Ahmari later succumbed to his injuries.
Al-Baydhani told the police that the two victims had no idea that he was armed. He said after shooting the two men, he went to his home in Al-Araq district.
He rented a car for SR400 through a friend to take him to Sabya region, before escaping to a desert area where he hid.
Al-Baydhani said he worked for some time at a farm owned by a Saudi, but he could not stay long for the fear of being caught. So he traveled to Mahail Asir, and he was arrested on the way.
