National Anti Doping Agency director-general Rahul Bhatnagar was quoted in Tuesday’s edition of The Indian Express as saying that the players had been provisionally suspended and withdrawn from the championship.
Two of the players are from Australia and one each from the United States, Germany, Canada, Spain and Argentina.
NADA had earlier caught 20 players for doping during an Indian kabaddi camp before the World Cup, which is being held in the northern city of Bathinda.
Kabaddi, a popular team sport in south Asia, has been a regular event in the Asian Games since being introduced as a demonstration sport at New Delhi in 1982.
