The project is a complicated mixture of systems including unitized and stick curtain walling, structural glazing, bespoke shading and glazed entrances.
Formed in 1997, Multiforms is a leading architectural facade specialist company based in the Kingdom.
This world-class center is also the largest of its kind in the Middle East.
The center will have an area of 80,000 square meters — which includes 43,000 square meters of building space.
The design and engineering services for the project were carried out by the Kingdom-based architecture firm, Zuhair Fayez, in partnership with the US-based firm KlingStubbins.
The center will be an LEED-certified building that complies with benchmarks for the design and
operation of high-performance green buildings.
Paul Haslam, business development manager of Multiforms, said: “Multiforms were delighted to secure the facade contract with SABIC on a development where the facade is both technically and architecturally demanding.”
Multiforms recognize the importance of working with one of the leading clients in Riyadh and see the new headquarters building as an opportunity to foster strong links with SABIC for the future, he added.
The center’s design will become a local landmark, standing at almost 60 meters high to provide a graphic representation of SABIC as one of the world’s leading petrochemical companies and the largest in the Middle East.
The center is expected to be operational by the beginning of the third quarter of 2013.
Operating from Dubai and Riyadh, Multiforms provides building envelope design, supply and installation services covering the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
Multiforms have over 100,000m2 of high-tech production facilities for architectural facades, glass, aluminum and uPVC windows and doors in the UAE.
With the strength of support from their shareholders — Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Holding and Dubai’s Emaar Industries and Investments — they continuously expand, diversify, set trends and raise quality standards to satisfy clients’ needs.
Multiforms have recently opened new production facilities in Riyadh and now combined with a strong management and trained workforce are able to deliver the full range of facade solutions from Riyadh to Jeddah and across the Kingdom.
