Over 1,000 volunteers from various regions of Saudi Arabia participated in the Haj service.
Indian Consul General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai lauded the service of the volunteers and said their efforts helped in making this year’s Haj smooth. He congratulated IFF’s volunteers for their hard work during the pilgrimage and thanked and praised the forum for organizing a dedicated service.
He also applauded the map of Mina that IFF developed for volunteers in the holy city. This year the Consulate General of India had arranged the map to be made available to all organizations that participated in serving the pilgrims, he said, adding that a more coordinated and organized volunteer effort would be put in place for future pilgrimages.
Mohammed Ali VP, Kader Khan, president of Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum; Saleem Qadri, general secretary of IPWF; Mohammed Abdul Azeez Kidwai (IPWF); Abdul Wadood of Samandapura Association; S.R Shareef, director of Al Fadhul International School, Makkah; Zakariya Ghulam Ahmed Biladi and Salah Karadan attended the event.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Master Muneer. The guests were welcomed by Mujahid, IFF northern states coordinator, and the event was coordinated by Abdul Ghani, asstant coordinator, IFF Haj volunteer service 2011.
“The volunteers received pilgrims upon arrival in Makkah and Madinah and escorted the old and weak to their accommodation. The volunteers helped to guide them to their destinations and coordinated with the Haj mission and medical staff in the hospital and dispensaries to provide necessary medical service to the pilgrims,” said Ashraf Morayoor, service coordinator.
He expressed gratitude to all volunteers who participated in the program this year to make the service a success.
Visual highlights of Haj volunteer service activities were presented and other cultural programs staged during the event.
