Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC vice chairman and CEO, received the memento at a ceremony held in Al-Kharj on Wednesday when Prince Salman laid the foundation stone for the university’s administration and deanship building.
During the event, people who had supported the construction of the building were also honored.
Al-Mady expressed his deep gratitude to Prince Salman for the honor and reiterated SABIC’s long-standing commitment to support academic institutions, research centers and universities in various regions of the Kingdom.
The company’s primary goal in extending this support is to build young minds and develop a national cadre in line with the strategic plans laid out by the Saudi leadership, he said.
“I am extremely happy and proud to receive this honor,” Al-Mady said. “The honor encourages us all the more to remain resolute in our support to our national institutions, including scientific and research organizations, to increase learning and meet the challenges of the future. It is our national responsibility,” he said.
SABIC sponsors research chairs in various Saudi universities, in addition to providing annual grants and research sponsorships. The petrochemical giant has also instituted an award for chemical engineering students to foster research and technology.
