The 17-year-old victim was also kicked and had water poured all over her at the 28th Secondary School for Girls in Al-Jamea district.
The Department of Girls Education also denied the attack happened, while the school headmistress said it was not as bad as reported.
Jeddah police spokesman First Lt. Nawwaf Al-Bouq said the Saudi girl, identified as Zikra, was taken to hospital for treatment.
Laila Al-Misawi, the victim’s paternal aunt, said Zikra came home from the school that day crying and with her clothes torn and face soaked in blood.
The aunt said the girl told her that some Chadian girls had attacked her. She also said she had to run for cover when one of her attackers drew a razor blade. Zikra said nobody intervened to end the fight.
Al-Misawi said they took Zikra to the hospital where she was treated and given a formal medical report. She said her niece has been absent from school since Tuesday but the school has not contacted the family to find out why.
The male guard of the school, who did not want his name published, recalled about two years ago he was attacked by a number of girls and was hit on his foot and knee. He also said about two months ago he was threatened by a black girl but he would not say if his attackers were the same ones who targeted Zikra.
Ruwaidah Khayyat, the headmistress, denied any of her students was attacked inside the campus. "This is the first time I am hearing this," she said. She, however, said there was a fight but no sticks or razor blades were used.
Director of Educational Media at the Department of Education Abdul Majeed Al-Ghamdi said his department had not received any complaint. He asked the parents of the victim to file an official complaint so that he can order an investigation.
However, Al-Bouq said the Al-Jamea police station was informed about the fight. He added that the girl was sent to hospital and that the Prosecution and Investigations Commissions was notified.
He said the police, who are not allowed to enter any school for boys or girls, spoke to the headmistress to ask the four Chadian girls to visit the police station with their parents.
According to the medical report issued by King Abdulaziz Hospital in Jeddah, Zikra suffered bruises on her face, chest and arms that needed three days to heal.
