The Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FGCC Chambers) and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchange of Turkey (TOBB) are jointly organizing the event with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Abdulrahim Hasan Naqi, secretary-general of the FGCCC Chambers, said the economic conference gains significance because of the steps being taken to shore up global economic recovery.
He said GCC Secretary-General Abdul Latif Al-Zayani and FGCCCI Chairman Saleh Kamel are expected to address the forum.
Rif'at Hisarciklioglu, head of TOBB and vice-president of Eurochambers and International Chamber of Commerce, is among other major speakers.
Naqi said the event coincides with the dawn of a new era in business and economic relations between the GCC and Turkey.
"It is also important because Turkey, now a main player in the global economic scene, seriously focuses its attention on increasing its commercial and entrepreneurial relations with GCC countries," Naqi said.
The forum will focus on seven main issues-clean energy resources, oil and gas, transportation, banking and finance, agriculture and food security, small and medium-size enterprises, infrastructure and contracting and woman entrepreneurship.
"These key issues will be discussed by ministers and experts from both the GCC and Turkey," Naqi said.
A workshop on innovative ventures by businesswomen and a panel discussion on "Promoting business development and investment between GCC and the Republic of Turkey" are also part of the conference.
The event will also deal with investment in environment-friendly projects in both countries, besides seeking to promote trade between Turkey and the GCC countries.
Several bilateral agreements are likely to be signed at the event. It would also serve as a platform for more cooperation and would open communication channels between the two sides.
Turkey’s relations are witnessing sharp growth in political, economic, security and military fields, especially after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Turkey and the GCC during a foreign ministers' meeting of these countries in Jeddah.
