The report Sunday on state TV’s website says seven of the 12 were convicted of drug smuggling and were executed in a prison in the city.
State TV says the other five convicts were hanged in public in the neighborhoods where they committed their crimes.
In Iran, murder, rape, armed robbery, kidnapping and drug trafficking are punishable by death.
Occasionally, Iran announces hanging of convicted criminals but it does not publish official total figures.
International rights groups have criticized Iran for its growing pace of hangings, which are often carried out in public.
