Lakshmi Usha, 26, was hit by a fast moving car while crossing the road along with her friend, 26-year-old Bissy Baby, in Najran in November last year.
Following the accident, Usha fell into a coma, while Baby recovered from her injuries. Both nurses came to the Kingdom only eight months ago.
Doctors have advised Usha to move with the help of a wheelchair, while Baby had to use a walking stick.
“We are thankful to the hospital authorities for giving the best of treatment to both nurses, who have fully recovered from their injuries,” S.D. Moorthy, consul for labor welfare at the Indian Consulate, said on Saturday.
Usha is from Ervadi village in the Tirunelveli district in southern India. Both nurses were working in the same government hospital in Najran, where they are being treated.
During a visit to the hospital on Thursday, doctors told the consulate officials that Usha could be repatriated home with an escort following police clearance.
Moorthy said the two nurses were hit by a Pakistani driver, who was believed to be speeding. He is currently in jail until police completes a full inquiry.
The diplomat said he is in touch with Usha's father Ponnu Samy, and suitable arrangements will be made for her to travel home on completion of the police inquiry.
“Although Bissy Baby is recovered, she wants to go back to India since she cannot still recover from the shock despite recovering from her physical wounds. She is still walking with a stick,” Moorthy said.
Moorthy thanked Saudi authorities who had given the consulate their full cooperation.
