Mobily’s consolidated financial results for the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2011 were announced on Wednesday. The net income for Q4, 2011 amounted to SR1.70 billion, as compared to SR1.46 billion for the same quarter of last year, with a growth of 16 percent, and a growth of 39 percent over Q3 2011 results of SR1.22 billion.
Gross profit for Q4, 2011 amounted to SR3.06 billion, as compared to SR2.57 billion for the same quarter of last year, with a growth of 20 percent and operating income for Q4, 2011 amounted to SR1.75 billion, as compared to SR1.47 billion for the same quarter of last year, with a growth of 20 percent.
Net income for the 12 months amounted to SR5.08 billion, as compared to SR4.21 billion for the same period last year, with a growth of 21 percent.
Earnings per share from net income (EPS) for the 12 months amounted to SR7.26, as compared to SR6.02 for the same period last year.
The gross profit for the 12 months amounted to SR10.32 billion, as compared to SR8.78 billion for the same period last year, with a growth of 18 percent.
Operating income for the 12 months amounted to SR5.31 billion, as compared to SR4.36 billion for the same period last year, with a growth of SR22 percent.
Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Saghyir, chairman of Mobily board of directors, attributed the rise in net profit to the increase in data revenues by 59 percent compared to the previous year, representing 22 percent of the total revenues compared to 18 percent for 2010.
The number of mobile broadband subscribers reached 8.7 million at the end of 2011 compared to 2.3 million subscribers in the unlimited, 5GB, and 1GB bundles for the previous year.
The volume of data traffic amounted to 163 terabytes per day compared to 85 terabytes per day at the end of 2010, according to the statement.
It said postpaid customers increased by 50 percent, with an increasing number of high ARPU subscribers, during the same period; the revenues of postpaid subscribers increased by 21 percent, representing 28 percent of the service revenues for 2011; the business sector service revenues increased by 85 percent compared to 2010.
In addition, Al-Saghyir said the company expanded its services provisioning capabilities by opening three new branches for the business sector in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, as a first stage.
The chairman indicated that total revenues reach SR20.05 billion in 2011, as compared to SR16.01 billion for the previous year, an increase of 25 percent.
He said EBITDA increased to SR7.45 billion in 2011 compared to SR6.17 billion in year 2010, an increase of 21 percent.
He pointed out that as competition in data services continues and due to the increase in sales of low margin smart phones and tablet PCs, EBITDA margin recorded 40 percent during the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to 44 percent for the same period last year, and compared to 39 percent for the third quarter of 2011.
