The students including girls, who have been selected from 12 provinces in the Kingdom, will participate in international summer programs for gifted, talented and creative children conducted in various universities and other institutions abroad in 2012. The workshop familiarized the students with the nature of the international programs and formalities related to foreign travel. The workshop also provided the students an outline of the culture and life in the countries they will be visiting. It also stressed the students to represent in the best manner the Kingdom’s culture in the outside world.
“The workshop aimed to prepare secondary school students of first and second year for international summer programs. They were also trained in communication skills by the experts of the King Abdul Aziz Center for Dialogue,” general supervisor of the international program and assistant deputy secretary general Amal Al-Huza said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency.
The former participants in summer programs spoke to the students about their experiences in foreign countries, she said.
Mawhiba increased its international programs by 25 percent with the 3,488 students registered to participate in 2012, Al-Huza added.
She said 150 students were participating in its full-time distance learning programs.
Mawhiba was founded in 1999 upon the initiative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. It is an independent nonprofit organization based in Riyadh dedicated to identifying and supporting young, gifted, talented and creative Saudis.
