The prize’s board of trustees will announce the names of the winners at a special function at the King Abdul Aziz Public Library headquarters in Riyadh, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, who is also chairman of the board of trustees of the international prize and member of the board of directors of the King Abdul Aziz Public Library.
“The King Abdullah International Prize, which is celebrating its fifth year, has been successfully contributing to the movement of translation to and from Arabic. It encourages individuals and institutions to translate works in all areas of sciences and humanities, which the five branches of the prize covers,” the prince said.
The prize has won international recognition particularly because it is attached to the name of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, the prince said.
The prince also stressed the prize's role in promoting cultural exchange and dialogues in the world as envisioned by the king, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The prince added the increasing number of universities and research institutions competing for the prize reflects the growing global popularity of the prize.
