Detroit tied the 1970-71 Boston Bruins for the second-longest home streak in NHL history. The 1975-76 Philadelphia Flyers and the 1929-30 Bruins won 20 consecutive games at home.

Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom played in his 1,549th game to tie former Detroit star Alex Delvecchio’s NHL record for games with one team. It’s also the second-most games played in Detroit franchise history, behind Gordie Howe at 1,687.
George Parros scored his first goal of the season for Anaheim, and Jonas Hiller stopped 23 shots. Teemu Selanne scored in the shootout. The Ducks’ Cam Fowler hit the goal post on a breakaway with 1:40 left in overtime and the teams playing 3-on-3.
An apparent goal by Anaheim’s Niklas Hagman 3:35 into the second period was waved off because of Parros’ penalty for goalie interference.
In Denver, Ryan O’Reilly scored on a slap shot with 1.2 seconds remaining in overtime and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped a season-high 39 shots in Colorado’s victory over Carolina.
Gabriel Landeskog, Milan Hejduk and Paul Stastny also scored for Colorado. The Avalanche have won two in a row since snapping a five-game skid.
The Hurricanes got goals from Tim Brent, Jiri Tlusty and Eric Staal in a city that keeps haunting them. The Carolina franchise hasn’t won in Denver since Feb. 9, 1996, when the team was the Hartford Whalers.
On his winner, O’Reilly stole the puck from Justin Faulk at center ice, skated in on the left side and sent a slap shot through the legs of Cam Ward. O’Reilly raised his arms in the air as he cast a quick glance at the scoreboard to see if he got the shot off in time.
In San Jose, California, Benn Ferriero scored the tiebreaking goal with 14:20 remaining in the third period to send San Jose off on a lengthy trip on a winning note.
Joe Thornton, Dan Boyle, Justin Braun and Jamie McGinn also scored to help the Sharks avoid losing three straight games in regulation for the first time since October. Brent Burns added three assists.
Antti Niemi made 30 saves to win for the fifth time in eight starts against Chicago since leaving the Blackhawks for San Jose before last season.
Marcus Kruger scored two goals and Bryan Bickell also scored for the Blackhawks, who have lost seven straight games, including the first five on a nine-game trip. Chicago also has lost nine straight road games.
In Buffalo, New York, Nathan Gerbe scored the decisive shootout goal in the fifth round after Buffalo overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period against Dallas.
Derek Roy forced overtime by scoring with 39 seconds left, and Thomas Vanek also scored to help the Sabres improve to 5-0-1 in their last six games. Ryan Miller made 24 saves in helping the Sabres jump ahead of three teams and into 11th place in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo also improved to 6-0-4 in its past 10 home games, with its last loss coming against the New York Rangers on Dec. 10.

After Buffalo’s Brad Boyes and Dallas’ Jamie Benn traded shootout goals, Gerbe sealed the win in the fifth shootout round by backhanding a shot that struck the post and then caromed in off goalie Kari Lehtonen.
Ryder then had a chance to tie it, but shot high and wide while driving in from the left side.
