Sultan Al-Suraie said the Ministry of Education had asked the owners of the private and international schools in the Kingdom to enter the data of their Saudi male and female schoolteachers into the website of the fund prior to increasing their minimum wages to SR5,000 in addition to SR600 transport allowance. “The registration of the teachers’ data in the electronic site of the HRDF will be completed in the next few weeks,” the spokesman said.
He said a special committee from the ministry and the fund was currently rafting a unified work contract for male and female teachers in private and international schools.
There are 3,375 private schools for boys and girls in all stages in the Kingdom with a total intake of more than 600,000 male and female students. These schools have over 50,000 male and female teachers, including about 29,000 Saudis.
A royal decree issued on June 4, 2011, stipulated the increase of the minimum wages of Saudi teachers at private schools to SR5,000, of which the HRDF would pay 50 percent for five years. The remainder would be incurred by the schools.
