The German state of North Rhine-Westfalia is the country's heart of heavy industry and the largest state in terms of overall population. The delegation included ministry staff and representatives of various enterprises and businesses based in the Rhine region.
Al-Mady engaged the delegation in a wide-ranging discussion of issues of mutual interest with particular emphasis on the German and European chemical industry.
Speaking about the visit, Al-Mady said Germany is one of the largest trading partners to Saudi Arabia. "The visit is an excellent opportunity to further capitalize on this relationship. Saudi Arabia is the center of the region's petrochemical industry, and SABIC ranks among the world's largest petrochemical companies. I am confident that with our strong reputation for delivering quality products around the globe, and Germany's international standing as an important center in Europe for engineering excellence and innovation, opportunities to develop long-term business relationships on both sides abound," he said.
Germany is an important manufacturing base in Europe for SABIC. It has a manufacturing plant and logistics facility in Gelsenkirchen, and sales offices in Düsseldorf and Ruesselsheim. Most of the products manufactured at the Gelsenkirchen plant are processed by customers into many different end products for the consumer market.
