The projects included the establishment of two hospitals at the University of Baha and the University of Tabuk; a college of engineering at the University Colleges Complex in north Jeddah; a power station at the University of Shaqra; and support buildings at the University of Tabuk.
The contracts include a project for the first stage of a new university hospital at the Northern Border Province, the initial phase of a new university hospital at Taif University, and a medical college in Unaizah.
The minister said the contracts provide the universities with hospitals that serve local provinces and areas.
Al-Anqari said there are nine similar projects worth SR3 billion, some of which are already under construction, in Hail, Jazan, Taibah, Qassim, Baha and Tabuk.
The minister pointed out the core projects were designed according to the highest standards to enable them to provide for an advanced academic environment that reflects positively on the quality of higher education outlets in the health care field as well as to offer distinguished services for the local communities.
Al-Anqari pointed out those health care projects support the Ministry of Health’s efforts in providing health care services that meet society’s needs, focusing on the health care role of Saudi universities in addition to their academic functions, providing a suitable learning and training environment for Saudi health care staff and supporting scientific research.
