Delhi-based DPS Society, which runs over 140 schools worldwide, signed an agreement with a Jeddah-based academic and businessman Zia Nadvi, who runs Al-Falah DPS as well as Al-Waha International School, in the city.
The DPS Society had long back decided to open a school in Dammam and its chairman, Ashok Chandra, had visited the city in 2009 but a decision was taken only last week, Zia Nadvi said. Speaking to Arab News, he said that opening a school in Dammam was a big challenge, so he needed some time to get things in motion. But he will soon be embarking on preparations to make the school functional and the necessary spadework has already been initiated.
He said, “The DPS Society agrees that Dammam has a more cosmopolitan character in comparison to other cities in the Kingdom and has the largest presence of highly-educated expatriates from different countries. This demands an upmarket school of global standards, which is a Herculean task.”
He added, the large Indian community was for long demanding a Delhi Public School in Dammam and now with the formal signing of agreement, it will soon become a reality to provide quality education for learning and growth of young minds by following DPS motto of “Service before Self. Our aim is preserve and enhance the highest standards of excellence and prepare generations for the 21st century.”
The DPS Society is a nonprofit, nonproprietary educational body widely recognized for its progressive approach and commitment to excellence.
