The exhibition was based on Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s strong brotherly bonds.
PISJ-ES Principal Sehar Kamran, who was elected to the Pakistan Senate recently, said the main objective of the exhibition was to educate students about the history and culture of Pakistan and the relations and ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
“The models and the projects vividly indicate that the school gives importance to the grooming of the future generation of Pakistan who have to lead the country in tomorrow’s world. They need to be educated about historic relations,” Kamran said.
“We have linked the exhibition with Pakistan National Day to make the students realize the importance of independence and revive pledges toward our motherland,” she said.
The added attractions of the exhibition were the stalls and the aromatic, mouthwatering food court.
The PISJ-ES students also included young children who exhibited fervor and a great deal of zest in their participation. They worked on projects such as the musical instruments of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, exports of Pakistan, religious similarities, desert plants and animals using various art techniques.
Projects by students of Grade 1 to 3 included wheat fields, the four seasons of Pakistan, CD art, chunari houses, and swords and shields from Saudi culture.
The projects of Grade 4 to 6 students included Islamic patterns and designs used in the Prophet’s Mosque, pictures of leaders and kings, glass paintings, Islamic calligraphy, foil sheet art and spell-binding sequins work on gift boxes.
The senior school students also worked diligently on their projects in their respective departments. Some of the commerce students’ noteworthy projects included those on the timeline of Google, telecoms’ contribution to the economy, and the demographics of Saudi Arabia.
The Pakistan Studies department delivered a presentation on Pakistani leaders, presidents and prime ministers while some of the Islamic Studies department projects included those on the history of the mosques, especially a timeline of the Holy Kaaba, its construction past and present, documentaries on prophets, projects on the rights of women, and information about prayer and hijab.
The English literature students worked on a model stage of an Arabian Nights play featuring the characters of Romeo and Juliet and a banner revealing the history of the English language, while Urdu literature students worked on magazine projects with titles such as Honaihaar Pakistan, Kaavish and Aaghahi.
The IT department projects included eye-catching models of gadgets, laptops, iPads, topology, networking, storage devices and the remarkable year 11 students’ work on websites depicting the Pak-Saudi friendship and sports competitions involving countries throughout the world.
The arts department showcased beautiful tile, mirror, tie and die, and fabric paintings and also Ajrak work and fabric collages.
All the areas of the school were decorated with Pakistani and Saudi flags, traditional clothes, maajlis, Phankis, Hukkas and kitchenware such as gawa cups and flasks. The main building entrance was decorated with models of historical monuments and buildings of Pakistan such as the Minar-e-Pakistan that left visitors awestruck.
The exhibition concluded with PISJ-ES students’ performances of various cultural songs dedicated to the Pakistan-Saudi friendship.
