The event, organized by the Forum of Pakistani Expatriates at the SABIC Beach Camp, celebrated the Lahore Resolution which was passed on March 24, 1940. The Lahore Resolution, commonly known as Pakistan Resolution, is considered as a first step toward the creation of a new homeland for the people living in Muslim majority northeast and northwest provinces of British India.
The program started with introductory speeches focusing on the importance of the Pakistan Resolution, followed by a movie on historical and scenic spots in Pakistan, patriotic songs and a colorful tableau played out around Allama Iqbal’s celebrated poem “Lab pay aati hay duaa”. It was followed by a speech contest among students of different age groups.
The contests gave a rare opportunity to Pakistani students to thoroughly study about the Pakistan Resolution and present their views to lead the country out of the current crisis.
Asim Khan and a group of professionals from SABIC, Marafiq, Chevron and other such organizations and their families worked day and night to make the event a success. The program was compered by Ale Imran and coordinated by Jamil Haq, Imran Nadeem, Amir Saleem and others.
