The ABEGS will also honor ABEGS director Prince Khaled bin Fahd bin Khaled, the first director of the Saudi Education Ministry, at the event.
The prizes that are given once in two years involves cash awards of SR200,000 and certificates of appreciation. The prizes have been instituted with the aim of encouraging scientific educational research and innovations in the member countries.
The prizes go to four researchers and two educational projects this year, ABEGS Director General Ali Al-Qarni said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency.
The panel of judges is constituted with members from the member countries. The winners include Fouzi Al-Haddad (Yemen); Samar Al-Oraifi, Taghrid Al-Sudais, Jauharah Al-Saqih (all from the Kingdom) and Muhammad Obaid (Bahrain). Qatar’s Higher Council of Education is also a winner this year.
All submissions were written in Arabic language, Al-Qarni said.
He added that the panel has already received 125 submissions for the next prize.
Riyadh–based ABEGS aims to serve educational, scientific and
cultural objectives of member states. It also strives to achieve coordination and integration of educational and scientific activities in GCC member states. Yemen is also a ABEGS member.
