The prince said the municipality has more than 600 women monitoring shops and markets in the capital.
In a statement after the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Prince Abdul Aziz said: “The municipality was the first department to establish women's units in the government sector. Since the opening of the General Directorate of Women's Services, the municipality was able to establish 18 branches in Riyadh city and in all its sub-municipalities, as well as women's units, departments and service departments with independent women leaders.”
The prince added: “The number of units is very appropriate given the size of the city. The Riyadh municipality intends to ensure there are opportunities for women.”
The prince called on all companies working with the municipality to attract young people registered in the Hafiz unemployment assistance program and urged Prince Mansour bin Miteb, minister of municipal and rural affairs, to ensure young Saudis are included in his ministry’s projects.
The Riyadh mayor said: “The idea of the exhibition is to give girls and talented artisans the opportunity to display their products.”
Laila Hilali, general supervisor of women's services at the Riyadh municipality, said: “The exhibition is organized by the General Administration of Women Services as part of its role to support social responsibility and help Saudi women start their projects and ideas. The idea of the exhibition was introduced two years ago to support girls and Saudi women, and to create opportunities for them.”
The exhibition aims to offer promising opportunities for talented women, especially those involved in handicrafts, and help make them successful businesswomen.
