RIYADH: Director of Civil Defense Marshall Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Amr has disclosed that the government has started implementing measures, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, to impose sanctions against crowds gathering around accident sites obstructing rescue operations.
He said penalties will be imposed against all those who gather around scenes of accident and obstruct the work of Civil Defense officers.
He was speaking on Thursday during a meeting on emergency response by Civil Defense in cooperation with Dar Al Ulum Private University in Riyadh. He said such forums are important to focus on raising the level of awareness in the media about the dangers of assembling around accident sites.
He praised the support and keenness of Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Naif for the training of officers and Civil Defense personnel to deal with crises and disaster emergency response.
Al-Amr recognized there is no way to stop crises from happening but it is imperative to diversify the on-field training of officers and Civil Defense personnel.
The forum comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is going through rapid development on all fronts in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Al-Amr said they are coordinating with the Ministry of Education about the recent lapses in heath and safety in some rented schools and are working to rectify the situation.
