Eminent scholars to conduct Taraweeh prayers in Makkah and Madinah

RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman approved a decree assigning two eminent scholars to conduct Taraweeh prayers at the Two Holy Mosques in Madinah and Makkah.
Announcing the names of the two imams, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, head of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, said that each will conduct prayers at the Holy Mosques in Madinah and well as in Makkah.
According to the announcement, Yasir Al-Dossary, associate professor at King Saud University (KSU), will conduct the prayers at the Holy Mosque in Makkah, while Khalid Al-Muhanna, from Al-Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University, will perform the Taraweeh prayers in the Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah.
Every year millions of Umrah pilgrims from the Kingdom and other parts of the world attend the Taraweeh prayers at the Two Holy Mosques.
This year, the number of Umrah visas issued by the Kingdom’s embassies abroad reached 5,671,855.
The actual number of pilgrims who entered the Kingdom through different ports reached 5,047,088. This is an increase of 5 percent over last year.
The majority of pilgrims came from Egypt, with the number of Umrah visas reaching 1,207,891.
At a recent meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, the king was reassured that the country was ready to offer a safe and secure visit for pilgrims, according to a statement issued by Culture and Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi to SPA.
Al-Toraifi said the Cabinet thanked King Salman for overseeing the expansion and development of the Two Holy Mosques and holy sites, in conjunction with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, chairman of the Supreme Haj Committee, and for his patronage through the Crown Prince of the 16th Scholarly Forum on Haj and Umrah organized by Umm Al-Qura University.
