NEW YORK: Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday covered a variety of regional topics.
Saudi ambassador to the UN Abdullah Al-Moallami said the results of the talks that focused on Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Libya, Kuwait dialogue and fighting terror were “very well.”
The meeting discussed several topics relating to Saudi Arabia and the role it could play in resolving regional crisis, he explained.
Sources told Al Arabiya that the meeting was “extremely positive.”
Al-Moallami described the status of Saudi-UN relationship as “excellent.” “It has always been excellent and this was reconfirmed by the deputy crown prince.”
On the upcoming visit of Ban to Kuwait where he will meet with the Yemeni warring factions involved in the current peace talks, Al-Moallami said both Saudi Arabia and Ban are very optimistic, and that the Kingdom is “supportive” of the efforts of the secretary-general’s special envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad.
