JEDDAH: Several journalists and other citizens joined the Nafa Charity in organizing a special iftar meal party for more than 1,000 orphans, on Tuesday.
Prominent figures present on the occasion included Musad Al-Ryan, director of charities in Jeddah, and Misfer bin Abdullah Badran, director of the Secondary Industrial Institute in Jeddah.
The iftar initiative for orphans, which includes a fun-filled atmosphere to cheer the children, was held for the third consecutive year this year.
Welcoming the guests, Nafa Charity Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad praised Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his “significant role” in reaching out to orphans with benefits and facilities.
“The special iftar for orphans is a way to show how much we care about orphans. Our religion shows us the importance of caring for orphans and to compensate them for the loss of the love of parents,” Ahmad said and added that the charity has full backing from the Ministry of Labor and Social Development “to serve the needy, including orphans.”
At least 807 charitable organizations in the Kingdom are dedicated to provide their services and activities, training and qualifying courses, heath facilities and help for needy families.
The Charity provides different courses for the orphans such as designing, secretarial, customer service, presentations, marketing, the use of English in marketing, web design, and cycle networks.
The Charity aims, through these courses, to give orphans the experiences and skills that are required to choose career paths and thus enable them to engage and contribute to the community, thus keeping in line with Vision 2030.
Secondary Industrial Institute chief Badran said: “Without children we would not feel the Ramadan blessings around us as we want to celebrate our Ramadan with our families. These orphans deserve to be happy and we are proud of initiatives like this, which demonstrate care and passion toward not only these children, but all other segments of the community.”
