Seema Sengupta’s article, “India’s naive NSG bid” (July 4) aptly sheds light on India’s current foreign policy.
I believe the Narendra Modi-led government is firmly in the saddle and it hardly matters if it falters on certain policies here or some decisions there. It faces no challenge from the opposition and hence it is running the country as per its whims and fancies. Modi has toured almost 40 countries, but only time will tell if it is going to be any beneficial.
The Indian prime minister is a good orator, who delivers speeches with utmost perfection.When he visited the US, he mesmerized the Indian diaspora. The people took no time to hold him in high esteem, ranking him on par with Barack Obama and Franklin Roosevelt. If people’s sentiments are swayed on the spur of the moment then it only reflects immaturity of a nation on the whole. — Anees Lokhande, Jubail
