RIYADH: Iran tops the list of racist countries in the world, according to a study carried out by a group of Swedish researchers, foreign media reported.
Iran ranked second among 80 countries around the world in an opinion poll conducted recently, the report added.
The poll showed that Iran is pursuing discriminatory policies against both Sunnis and Arab residents on its territory.
More than 4,000 Sunnis have been executed since 2011 on flimsy charges, the report said. It added that Sunnis were also being prevented from building mosques in a number of cities, including Tehran.
The poll pointed out that Iran has changed the names of Arab cities to Persian names, and prevented Arabs from completing their higher studies and assume leadership positions in key sectors including the judiciary.
