JEDDAH: The Shoura Council has approved a draft agreement to recruit domestic workers in the Kingdom from Bangladesh, a local newspaper reported.
The council demanded that the Management and Human Resources Committee endorse the agreement, refusing other demands to stop recruitment from Bangladesh.
The committee said that the demands are not commensurate with other opinions regarding the large number of the Bangladeshi workers in the country who perform very important work in the Kingdom, asserting that if recruitment was stopped from Bangladesh the country would be forced to import labor from other countries with different social and religious beliefs.
The committee said that it would study the recruitment file fully and would invite delegates from the Ministry of Interior and Foreign Affairs as well as representatives of the recruitment offices to participate in the study.
