JEDDAH: The stage is set for the championship round with sponsor team Sarawat Superstores, Al Kabeer Frozen Foods and Casadores completing the six-team stepladder final cast in the Thursday League 16th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City here.
Sarawat, Al Kabeer and Casadores became the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 teams to join the waiting top three finalists – No. 1 Al Murjanah, No. 2 Habagat and No. 3 D’ Barkads— in the chase for the major prizes during the 21st and final week of the five-man team competition. They qualified after emerging as the three teams with the highest handicap series following the three games knockout.
Sarawat, captained by Igna Salgado, totalled 3,124 pinfalls while Rally Zamora’s Al Kabeer had 3, 034 and Tope Sayson’s Casadores tallied 2, 974.
Missing the tournament’s final phase and with final placings at 7th, 8th and 9th respectively were: AL Striker 2, 945, Jem Striker 2, 901 and Salam Rice 2, 868.
Roll-off in the championship round Thursday is at 6:30 p.m. The first match is a knockout over two games between Sarawat, Al Kabeer and Casadores.
The winner advances to a knockout game against No. 3 D’ Barkads for a chance to challenge No. 2 Habagat for the right to meet waiting top finalist Murjanah in the championship match in a twice-to-beat format.
Yasser Hokbi led a Sarawat trio to shoot full games at 674 followed by Salgado 586 and Jay-R de Dios 554. Sharing two games each were Mohd. Al Amri 246-181, Gerry Mandanas 213-195 and Tash Haitam 222-209.
At Al Kabeer, Bandar Al Dosarry showed the way on 648. Backing him up were Zamora 586 and Nanding Siasoco 573. The other scorers were Archie Santos 209-183, Jhune Estefano 234-174 and Rommel Agbayani 177-204.
Casadores also used six-man rotation with Nezar Al Hamwe at the helm on 618 that went with the 595 by Sayson, 585 by Obie Ycasas, 538 by Ruben Grino, 212-235 by Ding dela Rosa and 186 by Rey Beltran.
