Obesity concern

This refers to the report “Obesity leads to 20,000 deaths in KSA each year “ (Feb. 26). Indeed, the death figure is very high, and it is really a cause for great concern. As a matter of fact, obesity is a global concern. No doubt, for some people, obesity is a hereditary problem, but that can be controlled by proper exercise and diet. The best thing to control obesity is to always eat less. Also, between the meals, there should be a gap of at least 5 to 6 hours so that the food may be well digested. One should prefer light food for the dinner and should avoid hitting the sack immediately after the dinner.
To burn extra calories, working out is a must. Even 15 minutes of exercise daily can do a lot of wonders in burning extra calories. Many people tend to gain weight as they are glued to television or computer screens for long hours without moving their bodies or having physical activities. To control obesity, continuous and long hours sitting in the chair should also be avoided. — Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
