Saudi Arabia’s nonoil sector, particularly in industry, manufacturing and construction, will be explored in a forthcoming report to be published by the Oxford Business Group (OBG), a publishing, research and consultancy firm that publishes economic intelligence on the markets of the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
OBG’s sixth publication on the Kingdom’s economy, Saudi Arabia 2013, will provide an in-depth analysis of the expansion under way in downstream activities and new developments such as mining and mineral extraction. The report will also contain a detailed, sector-by-sector guide for foreign investors, alongside a wide range of interviews with the most prominent political, economic and business leaders.
OBG will team up for a third year with Baker Botts and its associated office in Riyadh, the law office of Mohanned bin Saud Al-Rasheed, for its forthcoming report. The firm will work closely with OBG’s research and editorial team to produce the legal framework chapter of The Report: Saudi Arabia 2013.
Baker Botts’ global network offers a broad range of legal services worldwide, with its Middle East practice specializing in project development, banking and finance (including Islamic finance), M&A, private equity, capital markets, real estate development, foreign investment, regulatory and dispute resolution. OBG’s Regional Editor Oliver Cornock said he expected the Group’s partnership with Baker Botts to provide wide-ranging coverage of the ongoing reforms in Saudi Arabia as it looks to pursue its development plans and build on last year’s strong growth. “High oil prices have provided solid foundations for growth, helping the Kingdom to weather fallout from global economic uncertainty and continue attracting investors,” he said.
Cornock welcomed Baker Botts on board for The Report: Saudi Arabia 2013, saying the long-standing partnership had given OBG’s coverage of the Kingdom’s changing legal framework an added dimension. “Baker Botts’ lawyers have an extensive understanding of how Saudi Arabia’s efforts to liberalize its economy are reshaping the legal landscape,” he said. “I am delighted they will be sharing their expertise with us once again as we begin work on this important report.”
Babul Parikh, Baker Botts resident partner in Riyadh, added that with interest in Saudi Arabia growing on the back of the government’s massive infrastructure spending, OBG’s report had an increasingly significant role to play in relaying the Kingdom’s economic development to investors on the global stage.
