After months of preparations the much awaited Overseas Filipino Basketball League (OFBL) is all set for the grand opening tomorrow of its first project at the indoor court of Time-out Sports Academy in Ghulail District outside of Jeddah.
This tournament is being held in cooperation with the new partners of OFBL namely Time-out Sports Academy, Al Zugbi Sports Tailoring, Basketball Referees Group (BRG), Pepsi Bugshan, Western Union and Art’s Cuisine.
The OFBL opening day will have separate opening ceremony and parade of teams for the Friday Morning Division and the evening tournament divided into the Strong, Inter-Company and Inter-Commercial Division. The assembly time in the morning is between 6 to 6:30 a.m. and evening between 4 to 4:30 p.m.
More than 25 teams entered the tournament under the aegis of OFBL, which hopes to provide the platform for quality basketball entertainment for sports-loving OFWs and engender goodwill and camaraderie among participants.
Salvador “Boy” Teves chairs the OFBL with Rocky Gil as commissioner, Vicente Billones deputy commissioner, Lito Dela Cruz technical director, Rimar Baluyot executive secretary-finance officer, Erwin Carpena marketing consultant, Ernie Adao adviser and Janus Napuecas Gella in-house commentator- sports writer.
