Hankook Racing’s champion Saeed Al-Mouri has unveiled his new rally car, the Mini Countryman RRC, which falls under the S2000 category in the rally world. The car is a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbo car that produces around 270-horsepower with a six-speed Xtrac gearbox. The car is a 4WD 1200 kg racer and is considered the lightest car in its category within the FIA rally regulations.
Al-Mouri held a press conference at the Pitstop center in Jeddah, and revealed his car. Top management of Bin-
Shihon Group, exclusive agent of Hankook Tires in the Kingdom and executives from Hankook Tires were present. Al-Mouri declared that he will be participating in the 2013 Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) in the Kuwait Rally, the Rally of Lebanon and the Jordan Rally.
Saeed is considered as one of the best and most talented drivers across the Middle East, and especially in Saudi Arabia. His achievements spread across different types of racing formulas. He was crowned Red Bull Car Park Drift champion in 2011 and holds Middle East and Saudi titles in Radical racing as well as the Saudi Super Leggera title. Saeed was able to claim his first ever rally win a couple of month ago in the local rally of Kuwait.
During the launching, Saeed stated: “I would like to thank the Bin-Shihon Group and Hankook Tires for their continuous support for Saudi Motorsports and the support they always extended to me. I grasp this moment to tell you that I am very optimistic about driving the new Mini Countryman, especially that the car proved itself in a very short period of time. I hope I can make my country and the team proud during the MERC participation.”
On the other hand, Marwan Bin-Shihon vice president of Bin-Shihon Group, said: “We are very much aware that the private sector has a crucial role in supporting motorsports in Saudi Arabia. From this perspective the company is extending its support to Saeed Al-Mouri, who has achieved great results in motorsport, most noticeably in the last rally participation he had in Kuwait.
The company is always trying to help motorsports in general and would like to wish Saeed and others all the best.”
