JEDDAH: Saudi Attaché in Lebanon Musaed bin Ahmad Al-Jarrah on Friday held a ceremony to honor a number of Saudi students who excelled in Lebanese universities and schools.
Lebanese Minister of Education Dr. Hasan Diyab and Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali bin Saeed Asiri attended the ceremony. Embassy officials, Lebanese university officials and professors and a large number of intellectuals and journalists also attended the event.
The ceremony included an art gallery featuring several Saudi artists and graduates whose paintings were inspired by the Saudi culture and influenced by known styles of art.
“The celebration is a message to our students to direct their knowledge toward (the benefit of) the religion and country,” said Ambassador Asiri. “They are the future of the homeland, and knowledge is the real resource they are armed with.”
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has given them great attention. Saudi students abroad number more than 100,000 and the Kingdom today has universities equipped with world-class technologies and teaching all specialties, in addition to research centers spread across the country, he added.
He said the two education ministries of Lebanon and Saudi Arabia have been communicating for decades and will continue to do so. He expressed hope for Saudi and Lebanese universities to overcome obstructions and reach a point of direct institutional cooperation that involves meetings to exchange views and expertise and develop curricula, visions and methods.
Toward the end of the ceremony the audience watched a documentary on education in Saudi Arabia and its development in the past five years. This was followed by handing over the certificates of honor to the students.
