Oliva, Ventura shine in Etihad Airways Bowling League

RIYADH: In a rare moment, lower class bowlers Archie Oliva and Rica Ventura took center stage and captured the Bowler of the Week awards in week 14 of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR)-Etihad Airways Tuesday Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
Oliva, a Class C bowler from team Ayaw Na rolled a 4 games series of 948 to top Group A while Ventura, a neophyte from team Barkadahan, carded a series of 833 to excel in Group B.
In the team event, defending champion Kamahalan grabbed solo possession of second spot beating rival Unica 19-11. Prince Mohammed Al-Saud led the team with a series of 883, with contributions from Edwin Atienza (833), Bembol Velasco (815), CelisViloria (416), Abdullah Amoudi (441), Ruel Toledo (411) and Erwin Nacario (398).
In other games, top team NBA defeated Mandirigma 17-13, Pin Hitters downed Thrill Seekers 19 -13, Dabarkads upset SABB Advance 17-14, Habagat clamped down Lane Cruisers 19-9, Pin Pals trounced Saco Bolts 15-10 and Ayaw Na topped Vinnell Arabia 16-11.
Bautista still leads in the MVP race in Group 1 with an average of 218.8 followed by Arnold Jesena(217.0) and Andro Tismo(213.33). In the Group 2 MVP race, FathiAbdulaziz now leads with an average of 188.89 followed by Ryan Inigo (186.15) and Shawn Rickett (185.21) at third.

Haj Goodwill Games
Meanwhile, maximum of 33 teams have already confirmed participation in the UFTBR’s annual Haj Goodwill Games, including five (5) teams from the Eastern Province, which will be held Oct. 25 and 26 at UBC.
The 4-player team competition will once again pit all Riyadh and Jubail bowlers in an open bowling competition with at least 5 major awards up for grab.
