BALTIMORE: The Orioles hit three home runs off CC Sabathia in a 5-4 victory over the Yankees on Saturday night that moved Baltimore back into a share of the American League East lead with New York.
Mark Reynolds, Lew Ford and J.J. Hardy homered for the Orioles, who have won 11 of 15 games overall and nine of the last 13 against the Yankees. With a victory Sunday, Baltimore will win the season series (10-8) for the first time since 1997.
Trying to secure a victory for Joe Saunders (2-1), Baltimore closer Jim Johnson entered with a 5-3 lead in the ninth. He promptly gave up three straight singles, the last a bunt by Derek Jeter, to load the bases with no outs.
Nick Swisher drove in a run with a forceout before Mark Teixeira hit into a game-ending double play.
At Boston, Anthony Gose hit his first major league homer and drove in five runs as the Toronto Blue Jays moved out of the AL East’s basement by beating free-falling Boston in a game twice delayed by rain totaling 2 hours, 3 minutes.
Hanley Ramirez hit a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the ninth at San Francisco as the Los Angeles Dodgers trimmed a game off their division deficit with a 3-2 win over the National League West-leading Giants.
Adrian Gonzalez led off the ninth with a triple against Jeremy Affeldt (1-2), then Ramirez came through with a double to the gap in right-center. That was the Dodgers’ first hit in 15 attempts this series with runners in scoring position.
Ronald Belisario (5-1) pitched out of trouble in the eighth for the victory, helping Los Angeles end a four-game losing streak to San Francisco.
Pinch-hitter Corey Brown singled to drive in Ian Desmond in the bottom of the 10th inning as the NL East-leading Washington Nationals claimed a 7-6 home win over the Miami Marlins.

In the AL, the Minnesota Twins blanked the Cleveland Indians 3-0, the Texas Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2 over 10 innings, the Chicago White Sox slugged past the Kansas City Royals 5-4, the Los Angeles trounced the Detroit Tigers 6-1 and the Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners by the same margin.
