Pak Shaheen and Riyadh Fighters were crowned Super League and Premier League champions in the RCA T20 Summer Cup here.
In the finals played at RCA-3 ground, Pak Shaheen, batting first against Lahore Lions, drew an all round performance from Abdul Salaam (60 runs & 3 wicket for 2 runs) and superb cameo innings from A. Wahab (27), Abdul Qadar (26) and Javeed Khan (37) to score a fighting 208.
Jamshed and Mohammed Nawaz each took 3 wickets for Lahore Lions.
Facing a stiff target, Lahore Lions started badly losing their star batsman Salman Butt early. Batsman Mansoor along with captain Omar Zafar then steadied their innings and was cruising toward the target. Mansoor after concentrating hard and applying to the match conditions played rash shots and was caught at mid-wicket boundary for well made 34 runs. Soon after the other set, Zafar was yorked for well compiled 65 runs. Muzzaffar’s late burst (30) could not prevent Lahore Lions from defeat and eventually was bowled out for 184 losing the match by 24 runs.
Abdul Salaam took 3 wickets conceding 2 runs, while Javeed Khan and Abdul Waheed took 2 wickets each conceding 25 and 4 runs respectively. Abdul Salaam of Pak Shaheen was declared Man of the Match for his superb all round performance.
In Premier League finals, Riyadh Fighters scored an exciting two runs victory over Attieh Steel at RCA-4 ground.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Riyadh Fighters scored 199. Mubasher top-scored with fluent 75 while Imran Younes (36), Hameed (45) and Tasaq Hussain (21) were the other notable scorers in their total. Chasing a none too impressive score Attieh Steel started well and was on course to victory. However, after the fall of Ramzan’s wicket Attieh Steel batsman surrendered meekly and collapsed dramatically to lost the match by two runs. Mubasher of Riyadh Fighters was declared Man of the Match for his elegant innings.
In the Thursday League finals, Pak Shaheen scored a four-wicket victory over KFSH Blues at RCA-2 ground. Batting first, KFSH Blues scored 148 all out with Khurram Baig top-scoring with 31 runs, while Sohail Nawaz Abbasi added 28. In reply, Pak Shaheen romped home in 19.3 overs losing 6 wickets. Saqib Abbasi took 2 wickets for KFSH Blues conceding 32.
Meanwhile, YCL president Akram Qureshi paid a visit to RCA Cricket Complex grounds and witnessed both Thursday and Friday finals. He appreciated RCA’s efforts in promoting cricket, their wonderful work and excellent coordination with other cricket associations in the Kingdom. He extended an invitation to RCA for inter-city matches with YCL at their grass grounds in Yanbu.
