PNB Unified repeats as Team of Week, Saudi Hollandi Bank excels in Interbank Bowling League

PNB Unified posted back-to-back wins while Saudi Hollandi Bank captained by Greg Antonio grabbed Team of the Week honors during the second and third weeks in the Interbank Tenpin Bowling League 2012 Conference at the Riyadh InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.
PNB Unified crushed handicap-rich Alinma Tefa’al 340-0 and was crowned as the week’s best team during the second session. Sonny Alviso shot the high series of 850 to take home the Bowler of the Week award and complete a PNB double. He was assisted by James Frizzle, Mixi Lechuga, Jun Evangelista, Carlo Gaspar, Ronald Cruz and Edwin Nunez.
SABB-SAMA was the second best team as they almost blanked handicap-rich Alinma-Aspire 240-50. The trio of Jun Macarandan, Freddie Solomon and Dawood Serano burned the lanes to shoot 749,748 and 733 series. They were assisted by team captain Teody Zulaybar and Bernie Torres.
SABB Advance continued its winning streak to remain at the top for two consecutive weeks defeating Banque Saudi Fransi 210-110.
Arnold Jezena was the second highest scorer of the week at 825. He was supported by Ahmed Al Qarqoush, Sam Alinsod, Gerry Austria, Dodie Vizcarra and Jaffer Al Kathiri. BSF grabbed the fourth game behind the combined efforts of guest player Francis Guron, captain Jun Bantug and veteran Ben Torrefiel. In other matches, SHB thrashed BSF-CBG 180-50 while SAIB playing as bye posted 130 points.
Former champion Saudi Hollandi Bank edged defending champion PNB Unified in a grueling match during the third week 443-379.
The trio of Arnel Bernabe, Clem Salazar and Gil Hembra helped SHB to victory with powerful strikes that produced four-game series of 809, 808 and 805 respectively. Gerry Ayonon and Cholo Nieto completed the five-man team as they contributed 791 and 731 pinfalls. However, it was Alviso that outscored everyone with a staggering scratch score of 877 pinfalls for his second straight e Bowler of the Week honors.
Alinma-Tefa’al defeated sister-team Alinma-Aspire 210-110. The trio of Zohair Oqilan, Koko Torres and captain Bobby Ting inspired Tefa’al with four-game series of 782, 758 and 711. They were supported by Romy Burgos, Vic Aggregado and Wini Sabrido.
Captain Jojo de Silva of Tefa’al managed to grab the second game after tactful manpower maneuvering. The trio of Gelo Train, Abdulrahman Ahmed and Willie Bondoc leveled the scores after the second game with dominant combination of strikes and spares. They produced a four-game series of 790, 745 and 722 in that order. Ranier Torres and Jojo de Silva had 491 and 420 in three games while Lito Tolentino had 298.
SAIB whipped rival SABB-SAMA 150-50. Team captain Dong Calub fielded bowlers with higher handicap to match their opponent and successfully won the three games. Agie Dazo and Ed Robillos led the team to victory with 686 and 654. They were assisted by Eddison Austria,Siraj Zakaria, Ariel Diaza and Edwin Fontiveros.
In other matches, the game between sister teams BSF and BSF-CBG ended in a draw at 160 points each while SABB Advance, playing as bye, posted 130 points to keep the No. 1 spot for three consecutive weeks.
